25 Residents Spend Night at Red Cross Shelter in Kearny

About 25 people are staying at an American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter shelter Tuesday in Kearny after being evacuated Monday due to the Shipman Fire, according to a news release from Brian Gomez, a public information officer for the Red Cross.

The Red Cross set up cots and blankets at 3:15 AM MST Tuesday inside the multipurpose room at Ray Elementary School. The shelter will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner Tuesday, and it will have water, coffee and snacks, mental health and health services and information.

Evacuated Kearny, AZ residents wanting to reconnect with loved ones are urged to register through the Red Cross Safe and Well website at www.safeandwell.org. Those wishing to make donations to the Red Cross can do so online at www.redcross.org/donate or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS.
