Slide Fire Breaks Out in Sedona, Arizona

Crews are responding to the Slide Fire burning north of Sedona, AZ. Evacuations ordered for areas just north of Slide Rock State Park, according to Coconino National Forest officials.

Units responding include two Hotshot crews, four engines, two helicopters, an air attack unit and Sedona Fire.

Slide Rock State Park is located seven miles north of Sedona, Arizona.

[Update: 5:34 PM MST] The Red Cross is opening a shelter for Oak Creek evacuees. Location to come. The Red Cross has mobilized volunteers and supplies out of Flagstaff. They are on the road now.

[Update: 5:58 PM MST] The American Red Cross has set up an evacuation shelter at Sinagua Middle School at 3950 East Butler Ave in Flagstaff. A shelter for pets is being set up nearby at the Coconino Humane Association at 3501 East Butler in Flagstaff. Knock on the trailer door for assistance. Source: Coconino County officials
