Shelter Opening in Kearny for Shipman Fire Evacuees

The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter is opening a shelter Tuesday morning at 1:00 AM MST at the Ray Elementary School in Kearny for residents who were evacuated Monday by the Shipman Fire, according to Brian Gomez, a public information officer for the Red Cross.

Anyone evacuated from their homes due to this fire can go to the shelter, where cots, bedding, food, water and nursing care are available.

Evacuated Kearny residents wanting to reconnect with loved ones are urged to register through the Red Cross Safe and Well website at www.safeandwell.org. Those wishing to make donations to the Red Cross can do so online at www.redcross.org/donate or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS.
