Shelter Open for Families Affected by Prescott Fire

The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter has opened a shelter at Yavapai College in Prescott for residents who were evacuated Tuesday by the Doce Fire, according to Trudy Thompson Rice, a Chapter Communications Officer for the Red Cross.

The Red Cross has the capacity to shelter as many as 330 people inside the gymnasium at Yavapai College at 1100 East Sheldon Street, Prescott, AZ 86301. Red Cross volunteers have set up cots and blankets for overnight stays, and evacuated residents can come to the shelter for snacks, meals, coffee and water. Evacuated residents also can receive aid from American Red Cross nurses and mental health volunteers.

Evacuated Prescott residents wanting to reconnect with loved ones are urged to register through the Red Cross Safe and Well website at www.safeandwell.org. Those wishing to make donations to the Red Cross can do so online at www.redcross.org/donate or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS.
