Sunflower Fire Burning South of Payson

The Sunflower Fire is burning 21 miles south of Payson, west of Hwy 87, according to the Arizona Emergency Information Network. The Tonto National Forest wildfire was first reported on May 12, 2012 at 10:25 a.m. MST. The cause is under investigation. Resources committed include: 5 Hot Shot crews, 1 Type-2 I-A crews, 6 engines, 4 air tankers and 2 helicopters. The reported size of the fire is 1,000+ acres.
